Working with the longest running anime convention in Dallas, our full redesign of A-KON: Anime Unchained gave us the opportunity to mesh multiple styles together and refresh the brand. The project came at an opportune time. Riding a large influx of fans of the anime industry as well as A-KON’s booming fanbase requesting the return of the convention with the world recovering from a forced convention hiatus. In response, we pushed to create a bold, new style to redefine what it meant to come together.
Rather than simple, safe schemes, our work on A-KON’s branding, design, and social media work was adventurous, vivid, and spirited. Additionally, the logo itself was created to bring a new life to the brand and was an inspiration to create several original characters. These characters were formed around the aspects of what the convention offers as well as melded types of event-goers, allowing A-KON to introduce native storytelling and posture itself toward a stronger yearly relationship with its audience.
